On September 10th, Hoofprints of the Past will host a tour of the Powder River and Sussex area with a focus on the Bozeman Trail. We are honored to have Robert Wilson as the main speaker. Robert C. Wilson has served for decades on exhibits, historic trails, and interpretative projects with Wyoming State Parks. He is an acknowledged expert on the Bozeman Trail, Fort Reno, and period military life. He will be attired in authentic period military dress and tell the story of each Bozeman Trail site visited on the tour. In addition, during lunch he will give a presentation on Native and U.S. military weapons and clothing.
Tour stops include the following sites: the Moreton Frewen’s “Castle,” the 1836 Portuguese Fort, the Townsend Wagon Train Fight, Cantonment Reno, and Fort Reno. Other sites will also be pointed out along the way. Lunch will be provided by Rollin’ Raes.
